Fence installation in Lolo
Fences for subdivisions and small acreages at the north end of the Bitterroot.
Lolo sits about 10 miles from Missoula at the junction of US 93 and US 12, where Lolo Creek flows into the Bitterroot River. It's an unincorporated community that grew from 3,892 people in 2010 to 4,399 in 2020, and it's home to Travelers' Rest State Park, where Lewis and Clark camped in 1805 and 1806.
What Lolo properties need
- Wood and vinyl privacy fences in the newer subdivisions
- Horse and pasture fence on small acreages along the creek and river
- Garden fences tall enough to keep deer out
- Electric fencing around chickens and fruit trees in bear country
Outside city limits
Because Lolo isn't part of the City of Missoula, the city's fence permit and its limits on electric and barbed wire fences don't apply here. County rules and subdivision covenants still might, so check your covenants before you pick a style and height.
Wildlife on the move
Properties along Lolo Creek and the Bitterroot see deer and elk moving through. If you're fencing acreage, ask for a design that follows FWP's wildlife-friendly guidelines, with a top wire no higher than 42 inches and a smooth bottom wire at least 18 inches up.
